Conversations compound metrics!
3 things I picked from a business coach💰, teaching others 👩🏽🏫 & those who doubted me🥲
This past week, I found myself thinking about conversations,
the kind that shape your confidence, and your belief in yourself.
I’ve realized that conversations give you metrics.
Not spreadsheets, not KPIs, but real, raw metrics that tell you where you are, what works, and what’s next.
Here are three things I learned as a founder this past week.
Conversations create Metric for Direction
One conversation with a business coach clarified exactly what we need to focus on to raise $100,000 for Gida. That single discussion didn’t just provide advice.
It gave me clarity, direction, and belief that this goal is achievable.
Sometimes, all you need is one conversation to see the path forward.
Teaching in Conversations Build Feedback Metric
When I teach what I know, I don’t just give knowledge, I gain it. Whether I’m showing people how to become housing operators, teaching landlords to optimize portfolios, or guiding someone through real estate investing through rental arbitrage(renting from landlords or owners to re-rent) I leave every conversation smarter, sharper, and more capable.
Teaching is feedback, practice, and insight rolled into one.
Fear Mongers in Conversations are Metrics for Resilience
Seven years ago, I started as a study abroad coach. People doubted me, insulted me, and questioned my credibility.
I hadn’t even gotten fully funded myself yet.
And it hurt. Some of my clients won scholarships I hadn’t gotten, and still, I was being shamed.
But here’s the thing. I believed in my model.
And over time, my clients got fully funded. I got fully funded.
Application fees waived. Scholarships held on my behalf. Visas initially denied, eventually approved. Every doubt, every insult, every you can’t became fuel.
That same fire is alive today with Gida. People doubt that a platform can transform housing.
They doubt that I can execute. But the market speaks.
Gida is here. It’s changing how people find housing in the United States, expanding into Nigeria, and testing pilots in Nairobi and Europe as well as globally in a bit.
Every challenge, every skeptic, every doubter becomes proof that Gida is real and unstoppable.
Negative data isn’t a setback.
It’s fuel.
Strategic insight, teaching, and doubt. Each conversation is a metric.
And the metric I care about most is how much fire it lights in me to keep building, proving, and winning.
Good metrics calm us! But the bad ones fire us up too.
What are you doing with the conversations you are having?
I post grants, fellowships, founders tips + healing contents for founders building from lived experiences.
